Accepting Payments In Your Online Store
SmartCart offers many different options for accepting payments in your online store, such as credit card payments, PayPal payments, Online Checks (eChecks), Payment by Mail. The shopping system will present your preferred payment selections to your customers at checkout. Once the order has been submitted, the full order details can be accessed from the Order Management Area in the admin control panel.

Processing Credit Card Payments
To accept credit card payments, a merchant account and payment processor are needed. The best way to process payments in an online store is with an online payment processor, such as PayPal Pro, Authorizenet, Verisign, LinkPoint, ECHO, Bank of America and many others. SmartCart is compatible with most online processors. An online payment processor can process the credit card payment at the time the order is placed, as well as verify the credit card holder's billing address to help protect against fraudulent transactions. You can also use a standard credit card terminal (swipe machine) or credit card processing software to process credit card payments in your online store, however, these processors require a manual entry of the billing info and cannot be connected to the shopping cart system for real-time payments.

In most cases, SmartCart can be used to process the initial sale and collect the customer data. Some payment processors, such as Authorizenet, Transaction Central, PayPal and others, provide recurring billing options with their processing service.

Does SmartCart provide merchant account services?

SmartCart provides the ecommerce shopping system and store builder and a secure method of submitting payments online, but is not involved with the processing of credit card payments.
