Database Copy Utility and Conversion

A copy utility basically requires you to format your database fields in the same order as SmartCart's format. You will need to enter categories and sub-categories in the SmartCart admin and compile your catalog. There is no charge for this utility, however, it is only available to registered carts. A format utility is a custom written script that will read your database and compile your catalog automatically, based on the categories and subcategories in your database. This utility is a one-time fee of $200.00. A format utility is also required is your database has more required fields than the standard system. SmartCart Database Format   Field Name  Field Description Example item_num Item number of product Example: 1234 item_name Name of product Example: 14 kt Gold Ring item_desc Description of product - html coding can be added to this field to enhance the page that is displayed. Example: This beautiful ring has a 1/4 carat marquise diamond accented with small diamonds. 1/2 carat total weight. price1:price2:price3 Price of product. If product is available in different varieties, a price needs to be listed for each varity in the same order, seperated by a ":".   No "$". Example: 120.00:150.00:155.00 Dept::SubCat Department and subcategory field - seperated by  "::" (two colons - no spaces)  Also, Departments and Sub-Categories that have more than one word, please include a "_" where the space should be. Example:  New_Items::Gold_Rings  Note: You will need to enter the Departments and Areas in the SmartCart Admin controls. These will not be generated automatically from the database unless we develop a custom format utility for your store. Also, do not use underscores in the Admin controls - these are added automatically. Example: Size 7:Size 8:Size 9:Size 10 ship wgt  Shipping weight of product, in lbs. Example: 1.5:1.75:2.0
