Thay has encouraged our community to take action towards the use of solar energy to reduce global warming. During the past two years, the Deer Park monastic and lay communities have worked diligently to research the feasibility of converting our electrical energy source to a solar energy system. The entire project costs approximately $530,000, and the State of California's rebate program provided $182,000. We still need to raise about $280,000 to finance this project.
