Doug Wride will be the featured artist at Gallery 25 for the month of July, with an opening reception on the night of Art Stroll, Friday July 3rd, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Gallery 25 is located at 268 Historic 25th Street, Ogden. Doug is a Northern Utah watercolorist residing in Pleasant View with his wife Sue, and three children. He was born in Hailey, Idaho and has spent most of his life living in the Rocky Mountains. Doug has a great love of the outdoors, and spent much of his time as a child exploring the back roads of the mountains with his family. Doug discovered watercolor when he was a junior in high school, taking an art class thinking it would be an easy credit, and has loved it ever since. Upon graduating from Weber High School in 1979, Doug attended BYU on an art scholarship. He later graduated in 1985 with a BS in finance, then pursued a career as a stockbrocker for 18 years. Doug has now returned to his first love of watercolor. He truly enjoys expressing his feelings about the beauty of God's creations and rural America. His work can be found in collections across the country. Doug has studied under nationally and internationally known artists, such as Joe Christensen, Robert Marshall, Carl Purcell, Linda Kemp, and Brenda Swenson. Along with new work by Doug Wride, continuing work will be displayed by gallery members Lucile Chamberlin, Keith Dabb, Lauri Eskelson, Carol Fielding, Jeff Hepworth, Phil Hopkins, Liz Pierce, Mac Stevenson, and Lorin Wilde. Gallery hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, call 801-334-9881.
