July Featured Artists Lauri Eskelson and Father Charles Groberg
Gallery 25 will be presenting a father/daughter art show for the month of July. Lauri Eskelson will be presenting new works, along with a restrospective showing of her father, Charles Groberg's paintings. An opening reception will be held during the Art Stroll on Friday July 11th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Gallery 25 is located at 268 Historic 25th Street, Ogden. Lauri was raised with a love of art, and was greatly influenced by her father, who was a university professor and an avid outdoorsman. At a very early age, Lauri developed a strong love of nature, and landscape is still the subject that touches her soul. She's inspired by open space, and loves the energy that comes from painting directly from the land. "At times, it feels as if it's a race to record open space and wild places--before they disappear forever," she states. In the years since completing her art degree, she's taken classes and workshops from many outstanding artists: David Koch, Doug Braithewaite, John Poon, Shanna Kunz, and John Hughes, among others. She is represented by Gallery 25 in Ogden, Skywolf's Gallery in Teton Village Wyoming, Apple Hollow Gallery in Glendale Utah, and Twigg's & Moore Gallery in St. George. Charles Groberg (1913-1992) received his degrees from Weber State, the Art Center in Los Angeles, and Utah State University, and was an art professor at Weber State University for many years. He loved the outdoors, and his family has many wonderful memories of time spent together hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, and collecting rocks. His artwork was of the landscape that touched his heart. He influenced many students over the years, and many have commented that they appreciated his kindness and concern for individuals. His artwork is in many private collections, as well as in the homes of his children and grandchildren, where it brings such loving memories. Continuing artwork will also be on display by gallery members Lucile Chamberlin, Keith Dabb, Carol Fielding, Jeff Hepworth, Liz Pierce, Mac Stevenson, Lorin Wilde, Kevin Wasden, and Doug Wride. Gallery hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, call 334-9881.
